Gmail Launches ‘Help Me Write’ Feature For iOS & Android Users
During its Google I/O 2023 developers conference last month, Google reaffirmed its dedication to artificial intelligence. In addition to announcing advancements in large language models, the company presented convenient features such as ‘Help me write’ for Gmail.
Until now, the feature was only available to Google Workspace Labs users on PC. However, 9to5Mac reports that the feature is now rolling out to Android and iOS versions of Gmail for testers enrolled in the Workspace Labs program.
For those who don’t know, the feature helps users write emails using generative AI. Users can use the feature by sending prompts like writing a resignation letter, an inquiry message about the product, and more. Later, you can edit the generated text by refining it to shorten, refine, format, and lucky me.
9to5Google notes that “A ‘Help me write’ button will appear in the lower right corner, and when you tap it, you’ll be able to type a prompt. Now you can use the Compose button to create your email. And like the desktop implementation, users can also ‘proofread’ their text.”
The update is expected to be gradual and will eventually be available to all Google Workspace Labs users. Although we are registered with Google Workspace Labs, we have yet to see the feature available on our iOS and Android devices. At the moment we can only use the desktop version.
In addition, the feature is reportedly also available for Google Docs, but its availability is currently uncertain. If you want to become a tester, you can register from this link.
