Google Chrome Celebrates 15th Anniversary with Visual Refresh and New Features
Google Chrome, a widely used web browser with a user base of over 2 billion worldwide, owes its popularity to its speed, reliability, and user-friendly interface. In order to retain its users and prevent them from switching to other browsers, Google consistently enhances its Chromium-based browser by introducing new features and add-ons that not only improve its functionality but also enhance its visual appeal. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Google Chrome, the company has revealed plans for a visual revamp of the browser, along with the introduction of fresh features.
Google Chrome gets new features
In a blog post, Google announced that “Chrome will be getting a new look on the desktop in the coming weeks. Based on our Material You design language, we’ve updated Chrome’s icons with a focus on readability and created new color palettes that better complement your tabs and toolbars.”
For the uninitiated, Google introduced the Material You design language in Android 12. It allows users to adjust the browser’s dynamic colors, movement, and widgets. Users can choose a monochrome theme, and Google uses the color removal logic and prints it through the 65-color API. With the new update, Google updates the icon and offers new color palette options that can be used to customize the toolbar and tools.

In addition to the design changes, the new Chrome browser also features a more comprehensive menu that promises to provide faster access to options such as Chrome Extensions, History, Downloads, Settings, Google Password Manager and more. Not only the browser, but also the Chrome Web Store is being redesigned with new sections for AI-powered extensions and editors.
Google is also updating its Browsing Protection feature and now compares sites to Google’s known bad sites in real time. According to Google, it reduces the time between identifying and blocking malicious websites and offers 25 percent better protection against malware and phishing threats.
Google went on to say, “Thank you to all of our users over the past 15 years! There’s so much to explore online, and we’re always making improvements like these so you can find what you need easily and safely.”
These changes will be rolled out in stages over the next few weeks, so keep your Chrome browser updated to the latest version to take advantage of its new features and design changes.
