Google could make adaptive charging work on Pixel phones without alerts
Google has reportedly updated the Pixel Adaptive Charging feature, which now appears to work without an alarm.
This smart feature aims to “help preserve long-lasting battery life” by not charging to 100 percent before users wake up. Their Pixel charges 80 percent and uses the morning wake-up call to determine when it’s ready to unplug. 9to5 for Google.
“When you charge your phone between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., when the active alarm is set to 3:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., your phone can use adaptive charging. This feature must be enabled for your phone to use it,” the company said.
According to the report, in early 2020, Google set the alarm window to be between 5 and 10 a.m., which was later changed to 3 a.m. to 10 a.m., presumably to accommodate more sleep schedules.
At the time, people were unhappy that they had to manually set an alarm and that the Pixel couldn’t just figure out their schedule.
Now, the need for an alarm seems to have changed, as Adaptive Charging works without an alarm, according to the report.
