Google Introduces a Simple Solution to Prevent Spam Emails, Limited to Select Users
Google has been promising the easiest way to block spam for a while now, but the feature is finally here. That’s right, Gmail users now have a simple click button that allows them to unsubscribe from spam emails that arrive in their inbox. Marketing messages can be a pain if you sign up, and Google has acknowledged these issues for which it now has a direct unsubscribe button. According to reports, the button will be available next to the sender’s name and all you have to do is tap it.
Gmail will then send an email to the marketing company behind the spam and ask them to remove you from the list. Being able to block this spam right from the inbox is a definite upgrade. All this time, you either had to scroll to the bottom of the email and click the little unsubscribe button attached, or click the three-dot menu to get the unsubscribe option.
The Gmail feature is currently only available on the iOS app and was not available on our devices at the time of writing this story. It is likely that the Gmail feature will be rolled out to everyone in stages. We still don’t know when Gmail Android users will get the button, but we expect it to be a few days or weeks after the official iOS release.
But Gmail is unlikely to limit the feature to mobile apps. It was recently reported that desktop Gmail can automatically add an unsubscribe button to messages if it finds an unsubscribe link in the message.
Users only need to click a button to stop receiving unwanted emails. As you may know, Gmail has planned a massive overhaul of the spam system that will take effect in February 2024 and the button could be made official for everyone then.
