Google Photos Adds New Collage Designs Under “Latest News”
Google Photos, in addition to storing photos, also uses machine learning to edit photos and videos. He has now introduced new collage designs that will appear in Recent Highlights. The new update started rolling out earlier this week.
The top Google Photos carousel shows old photos in an Instagram Stories-like interface. There is a titled Recent Highlights where Google selects the best of your recent photos. Here, several photos taken on the same day or on the same occasion are clubbed together in a collage. Right now, Google Photos has a standard, simple collage.
The new collage on Google Photos features a chalkboard-style design with chalky borders. Google says there are a few new collage designs available in this update. The one shared by a tipster with Android Police shows a floral background. New collage designs are still being rolled out, so it’s unclear how many are available. You can check if you’ve received them through the Latest News tab in your Google Photos app.
The new update comes shortly after Google announced possibly the biggest change to Photos. Google Photos will no longer offer a free backup as of June 1, 2021. All photos and videos posted on that date will count to your 15 GB storage. Google Photos comes with unlimited storage for compressed but high quality photos . This change affects all Google users except those who use Pixel phones. Google will make this change for future Pixel phones, however.
