Google Photos Unveils Upcoming Features in Leak
Google is continuously improving its apps to provide users with a better experience and prevent them from switching to alternative applications. Recently, a leaked report has revealed potential additions to Google Photos that could be quite intriguing. Currently, Google is testing various exciting features that aim to enhance the sharing of photos and videos, improve organization, and assist users in staying updated on significant events.
According to a report by Biz.crast.net, these features were discovered by app expert assembledbug, who analyzed the code behind the Google Photos app. He posted this on the (formerly Twitter) X platform. Although these features are not yet available in the app and are subject to change, they promise to make Google Photos even more user-friendly. Check out the features of Google Photos below:
1. Streamlined partner sharing:
Google is testing a sharing shortcut that will simplify sharing albums with your partner. Instead of navigating the sharing menu, you can assign a contact as a partner during setup and share media with them with a single tap. Please note that this feature currently only supports one partner and is different from the existing “Partner Sharing” feature.
2. Automatic album archiving:
Another testing feature allows albums to be automatically archived after 30 days. This archive is a space for albums, photos and videos that you don’t want to appear in your main library or in automatically generated movies or animations. You can also improve data security by placing content in a locked folder protected by an additional passcode.
3. Integrated calendar:
Google Photos may soon integrate with Google Calendar, allowing users to create reminders and events directly from the app. This feature suggests the possibility to define calendar events with details such as time, title and duration. It’s unclear how Google will utilize this feature, but it could potentially integrate Google Photos’ “Memories” feature with Google Calendar, or convert photos from meetings and invitations into calendar events.
In particular, these features may be particularly attractive to Google One subscribers, as the code mentions benefits to them such as reminders and automatic collection.
Keep in mind that these features are still being tested and subject to change before possible deployment. Nevertheless, they promise to simplify photo sharing, organize albums and seamlessly integrate Google Photos with Google Calendar, which may make life easier for users.
