Google Users’ Accounts Vulnerable to Hacking Even Without Password Knowledge
Hackers are always looking for new ways to bypass and the latest one is pretty scary because they can access your account without even knowing your password. In fact, their access is not restricted even if you reset the password. CloudSEK has provided disturbing details in its report this month.
The problem is related to third-party cookies, which are a key part of Google’s web operations and business. The security company notes that the vulnerability could pave the way for hackers to compromise your Google data. These cookies also enable authentication and store your password and other personal information for quick login.
“This exploit allows continued access to Google services, even after a user’s password has been reset… It highlights the need to constantly monitor both technical vulnerabilities and human intelligence sources to stay ahead of emerging cyber threats.” CloudSEK mentioned the issue in their post.
Google seems to have understood the problem and even claims to have fixed the problem at the end, according to a media report. But these concerns are becoming more common these days, which should raise alarms for the tech giant. The company is working hard to provide users with better privacy and limit access to malware across all of their platforms.
Google is also introducing changes that allow people to restrict cookies from tracking their online activity, which could be a big deal for the company and its business partners. Google also needs to strengthen its mechanism to track malicious apps effectively and prevent them from targeting billions of Android users who may accidentally give full access to these apps, allowing them to steal data and more.
