Gorilla Armor Glass Featured in Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series has been unveiled this week, and all eyes are on the new Galaxy S24 Ultra, the company’s flagship model. The new device has the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, but you also have titanium making its debut in the chassis and the company’s move back to the flat screen.
In addition to these changes, you also get an all-new Corning Gorilla Armor glass that seems to change the appeal and functionality of the display for users.
It seems that Samsung and Corning have been working on a new material that not only provides durability, but also increases readability in sunlight. “Gorilla Armor offers an unmatched combination of durability and visual clarity, offering a richer display in sunlight and better protection against damage from daily wear and tear,” Samsung noted in this post.
So what’s so special about this glass and how exactly does it offer better durability? Samsung says that compared to a typical glass surface, Armor glass reduces reflections by up to 75 percent, improving screen readability and minimizing screen reflections in almost any environment, the post adds. We’ll have to put the phone to the test to see if these lofty claims are true and if the display can actually withstand daily wear and tear with minor damage.
The company has chosen a flat screen for the Galaxy S24, which facilitates changes in screen material and allows people to get more out of the screen wherever they are. It will be interesting to see Armor glass make its way to other brands later this year.
