iOS 17 could be more than just a bug fix with several “nice” features in the works
It’s clear that the last few major iOS releases have been iterative at best, and it’s high time for a major overhaul. Apple’s mobile operating system has not only maintained a similar look and feel for years, but has also neglected several features that have been highly requested by its users. However, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this could change with the release of iOS 17.
In Gurman’s recent Power On newsletter to Bloomberg, it was revealed that iOS 17 was intended to be a bug-fixing and performance-enhancing “tuning release” — preventing a situation like iOS 16’s widely buggy release, which had a couple. new customization features, including a redesigned Lock screen and updates to iMessage.

Apple’s plans for iOS 17 changed during its late stages of development, and several “nice to have” features are expected to be included in the final release, “even if it lacks an improvement like last year’s revamped lock screen,” Gurman said. the upcoming version, codenamed “Dawn”, is set to address a number of long-standing user requests.
AppleInsider notes that the rumored additions are updates to iMessage that will include a redesigned “new home” feature, chat rooms, and augmented reality chat functionality first hinted at in an unconfirmed rumor in October 2022.
