Kuo Reports Over 180,000 Units of Apple’s Vision Pro Headset Sold, Selling Out Rapidly
The Apple Vision Pro mix reality headset, the company’s first product line in almost ten years, has been quite popular since pre-order. And according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has sold more than 1,60,000 to 1,80,000 units of headphones.
The high demand for Vision Pro has led to longer delivery times for new orders. Delivery times for all models are now estimated to be 5-7 weeks from the February 2 release date. “As predicted, the Vision Pro sold out immediately after pre-orders opened, with delivery times for all models extending to 5-7 weeks in hours,” he said.
We may also see scalpers listing the Vision Pro on eBay for double the retail price. This finding further reinforces the notion that the headphones are popular and people may pay upwards of retail price to purchase the headphones at or near launch.
However, this is not the first time that Apple products sell out quickly upon release. We’ve seen it happen with the iPhone before. People pre-order them right away and then have to wait months for them to ship. This is especially true for the “Pro Max” models. But what happens to Vision Pro is a bit different, according to Kuo. “Unlike the Vision Pro, iPhone models generally experience a steady increase in delivery times 24-48 hours after pre-orders open, indicating that demand continues to grow even after the initial sell-out,” he added.
The speculation is: Apple’s partners like Luxshare are working overtime to produce enough Vision Pro devices to meet the demand, as producing around 5,00,000 units shouldn’t be a significant challenge. However, it is equally important to assess the level of continued interest in the product after the initial sale, so that changes in demand can be accurately assessed, Kuo concluded.
