Microsoft Edge Browser Users Now Have Access to AI-Powered Design Tool, Designer

Microsoft has now made its AI-driven design tool, Designer, easily accessible to Edge browser users in the United States. This integration allows users to conveniently access Designer from Edge’s sidebar, eliminating the requirement to open a separate tab or software program.

After its initial release last year, Microsoft took it a step further in April by announcing the integration of Designer into the Edge browser. This enhancement allows users to effortlessly create a variety of templates, such as social media posts, flyers, greeting cards, invitations, and more — all within the confines of the Edge sidebar, according to a report by The Verge.

How Microsoft Designer works

When you enter a prompt, Designer’s AI technology displays a grid of suggested designs, complete with text and images. Whether it’s changing the image, adding an illustration, or changing the font, users can customize these templates to their liking. In addition, the tool uses DALL-E-based text-to-image generation, which allows users to create images to include in their designs.

While these features are already available through Microsoft’s standalone Designer web app, Edge integration offers clear advantages. This inclusion streamlines sharing your design seamlessly via email, Facebook or Instagram, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple windows. Additionally, this move puts Microsoft Designer in competition with other AI-powered design tools like Canva, which have already started incorporating similar features.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft Designer is still in preview, and there is no definitive timetable for its full release. To use the tool, users can refresh their Edge browser and then select the “plus” icon located on the right side of the screen. When you select Designer (Preview), the tool appears in the sidebar.

Bing Chat updates in the browser

In addition to integrating Designer into Edge, Microsoft has rolled out several updates to Bing Chat in the browser. These updates allow users to instruct the chatbot to perform various actions, such as organizing tabs related to specific topics or retrieving passwords from different browsers.
