Microsoft Offers Up To Rs 12 Lakh Reward For Finding Bugs: Here’s What You Need To Know
Good news! US tech giant Microsoft has announced an AI bug bounty program offering up to $15,000 (roughly Rs. 12,51,347) for finding vulnerabilities in new AI-powered Bing services and related apps.
The purpose of the program is to encourage researchers around the world to find vulnerabilities in Bing’s chatbot and AI integrations.
“The Microsoft AI Bounty Program invites security researchers from around the world to find vulnerabilities in a new, innovative AI-powered Bing experience. Accepted submissions are eligible for rewards ranging from $2,000 to $15,000,” Microsoft wrote in a blog post.
The program is open to all information security researchers, regardless of experience or location. Researchers can submit their findings through the Microsoft Security Research Center (MSRC) portal.
Vulnerabilities in the following products are eligible for this bounty program:
– AI-powered Bing experiences on bing.com in the browser (all major vendors are supported, including Bing Chat, Bing Chat for Enterprise, and Bing Image Creator)
– AI-powered Bing integration in Microsoft Edge (Windows), including Bing Chat for Enterprise
– AI-powered Bing integration in the Microsoft Start app (iOS and Android)
– AI-based Bing integration with the Skype mobile app (iOS and Android)
Vulnerabilities found in these integrations can be submitted and win a reward.
The company also shared the eligibility criteria for error reports. To receive the reward, developers must report a new bug to Microsoft.
Such vulnerability must be of critical or important severity according to the “Microsoft Vulnerability Severity Classification for AI Systems” and must be reproducible in the latest, fully patched version of the product or service.
They must also provide specific steps to recreate the fault. Applicants must be at least 14 years of age and have the permission of a legal guardian if they are a minor.
The company also said that “the goal of the AI Bounty Program is to uncover significant vulnerabilities in the new, innovative, AI-powered Bing experience that have a direct and demonstrable impact on the security of our customers.”
