Millions of people blame Google for SMS problems on Android phones; Here is what happened
If you are an Android user and have been texting your friends and family for a few days, you must have noticed some issues with delays in sending these messages. You are not alone as there are many other Android users with phones from different manufacturers who are facing the same problem. Some are unable to send or receive SMS.
Many have even talked about it on the Reddit and OnePlus forums while others have talked about it in the Google Play Store.
As reported by Android Central, the issue appears to date back to November 23, when Google’s Carrier Services app received an update. Some users mentioned that removing this app from the smartphone can temporarily solve the SMS issue. However, we recommend that you do not do this because the Carrier Services app is also responsible for several background tasks. This means that if you delete the app it may lead to new issues, which you have never encountered before.
Plus, the app supports the latest features you get from an Android Messages app. So, if you are an RCS chat user, deleting the app may also cause it to be disabled.
On the other hand, Google has not yet addressed this issue or made any public statement about it. However, he updated the app earlier today with the changelog mentioning “Bug fixes and stability improvements”.
Speaking of chat apps, Google recently launched a new smartphone app that aims to make communication easier for people with speech and motor difficulties. Look to Speak uses people’s eyes to select phrases on their phones and speak them out loud. You can get it right away from the Play Store.
