NASA Launches Its Own Streaming Platform
NASA is set to introduce its own streaming platform, NASA+, in the upcoming summer. Although NASA currently livestreams launches and other events on its website, NASA+ will offer not only live broadcasts but also a variety of original video series. Some of the initial shows on the platform will be brand new, and the best part is that the service will be free and ad-free. In essence, NASA+ will be the go-to destination for those looking to indulge in NASA and space-related content.
The streaming service is available through the agency’s iOS and Android apps for mobile devices. You can also use it on desktop and mobile browsers and stream shows on demand through media players like Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV.
Marc Etkind of NASA’s Office of Communications said:
“We’re making space on-demand and accessible with NASA’s new streaming platform. Transforming our digital presence will help us better tell the stories of how NASA explores the unknown in air and space, inspires through discovery, and innovates humanity.”
In addition to introducing its own streaming service, NASA is also revamping its entire digital presence. It is currently working on a new web (and app) experience that can better aggregate information about its missions, research projects and updates on the Artemis program, among other things. NASA has numerous websites for different programs and divisions, but the new experience includes content from several of them. It also has an integrated navigation and search function that makes it easier to access information on NASA websites. You can visit the beta version of the updated online experience right now, but note that the agency plans to add more libraries and websites to it even after it’s fully launched.
