Phone 2 Owners Now Have Access to Nothing OS 2.5 Beta, Built on Android 14

Nothing has finally released the first beta version of Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14. Touted as the most significant since Nothing OS 2.0’s debut on the Nothing Phone 2, the update includes a number of changes. These changes include an updated widget library, a customizable power button, and an updated quick settings layout for Nothing Phone 2.

Here are the main changes coming to Nothing OS 2.5:

First, Nothing has added the ability to hide app icons from the home screen and app drawer. The update also brings a new screenshot editor and menu, as well as a new photo widget that allows users to display images on their home screen.

And the original Android 14-based changes, such as monochrome mode, backward gestures for interacting with apps, and the ability to set ringtone and notification volume separately, have also been carried over with an updated volume control interface.

How to get Nothing OS 2.5 on your Nothing phone 2

To get started, users need to install versions 2.03.10. Next download this APK and install it from downloads. You can then go to Settings > System > Update to access the beta version.

It’s important to note that beta support for Nothing OS 2.5 is currently only available for the Nothing Phone 2, not the Phone 1, and it’s not clear exactly when the Nothing Phone 1 will get the beta or if it will be directly updated to the public version whenever it will be launched. The London-based tech company has yet to announce when the final version will be available for either phone. Both phones come with a number of software-based features, and the new beta version aims to further improve this suite.
