PM Modi Outlines Vision for India-US Tech Collaboration to Support Young Entrepreneurs
The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the USA has been described as a significant event, and within just two days, it has already proven to be a momentous trip. During his visit, PM Modi has already had meetings with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has confirmed that Tesla cars will be introduced in India as soon as possible. Additionally, he has met with astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who expressed his pleasure at meeting a head of state who is as scientifically-minded as PM Modi. In a recent speech, the Prime Minister shared his vision for a “Techade” – a decade of technological advancement – and outlined the steps that must be taken to achieve it.
After traveling from New York to Washington, Prime Minister Modi visited the National Science Foundation in Virginia with US First Lady Jill Biden. Speaking at the event, he explained that the Government of India is aiming to make this ongoing decade the decade of technology and dedicate resources to empower entrepreneurs.
“To encourage young entrepreneurs, we have started the Start-Up India mission. Our aim is to make this decade a tech decade, Techade,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi emphasizes the need for India-US partnership
PM Modi also expressed that India and the US should work together to build capabilities that can drive sustainable and consistent growth rates.
He said, “On the one hand, the US has top-notch educational institutions and advanced technology. On the other hand, India has the world’s largest youth factory. That’s why I believe the India-US partnership will prove to be an engine for sustainable and inclusive global growth.”
Highlighting the initiative that India has already taken in this direction, he said that during the Skill India campaign, more than 50 million people have been exposed to the fields of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and drones.
Rounding out the message, the US first lady said, “But our relationship is not just about governments, we celebrate families and friendship between our two countries. The partnership between the US and India is deep and broad as we address global challenges together.
