Polestar 2 EV includes YouTube integration & CarPlay features
Polestar has announced its latest update for the Polestar 2 EV, and it includes a YouTube app integrated right into the home screen. Polestar’s co-owner Volvo mentioned plans to make YouTube infotainment available in 2022 – although it was through the Play Store. Even if you don’t want to be watching YouTube videos while you’re on the road (or playing video games, Tesla), Polestar specifically notes that it’s a way to keep yourself informed while the car is charging.
Yes, the upgrade is only for entertaining yourself while you’re sitting still, but surely when you’re dropping at least $40,000-$50,000 on an EV, why not provide entertainment while you juice?
There are also some new features for the trip, including expanded Apple CarPlay information about calls or media on the home screen. In addition, you can control calls through the steering wheel (as in most cars), and in a unique way, you can see calls and Apple Maps directly on the driver’s screen.
The final installment of the Polestar 2 updates focuses on the Range Assistant app, with a significant upgrade that gives you more control over your energy efficiency and monitors consumption over 20, 40 or 100 miles. The update also takes into account environmental changes and related variables in the expected range – real-time information is available directly on the driver’s screen. Previously, this number was the default distance projection, not yours. The P2.9 update has started rolling out over the air, so keep an eye out for it to arrive on your EV.
