Rabbit R1: An Adorable AI Device at CES 2024 That Streamlines Your Digital Life
Ever since the first iPhone and Android devices appeared, we’ve seen huge leaps in mobile device technology. Smartphones have made our lives easier by allowing us to do things that once required multiple devices. They are now an all-in-one tool for meeting life’s daily challenges. But what if there was a mobile device that could make using smartphone apps even easier?
The Rabbit R1 is a new $200 device that performs in-app functions for you. It was unveiled at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES 2024) in Las Vegas, USA. The device uses the Large Action model, which does the tasks for you, such as ordering food or a taxi.
The device has a 2.88-inch touch screen housed in a handheld console-like body. It resembles a PlayDate console that plays retro-style games. The device has a 2.3 GHz MediaTek processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space. It also has a rotating camera for optics. To use it, you have to press the “Push-to-Talk” button, which activates the Rabbit OS and starts listening for prompts.
The company says that it comes with Rabbit OS, which is based on the Large Action Model. “LAM is a new kind of basic model that understands people’s intentions in computers. With LAM, Rabbit OS understands what you say and gets things done,” the company said.
It includes support for music, ride sharing, food, map research, shopping, travel and generative AI applications. The company is also working on an experimental teaching mode that allows you to train on their LAM.
This device is very similar to the Humane AI pin released last year. It aims to help people move away from the smartphone interface, but unlike the Humane AI pin, it doesn’t require a subscription, is cheaper, and is more familiar.
