Ready To Say Goodbye To X? Here’s How To End Your Account!
Earlier this month, Elon Musk was accused of allegedly endorsing an anti-Semitic message, and as a result several major companies – including Apple, Disney and IBM – have suspended advertising on X.
Now, if you’re thinking of leaving X for this or any other reason altogether and want to delete your X account, here’s how you can do the same. But first you need to know that X gives you two options – deactivation and deletion.
It should be noted that deleting an X account is permanent, while deactivation is temporary, but both are basically done the same way. Simply put, you first deactivate your account and this takes 30 days. If you do not wish to interact or return to your X account, it will be permanently deleted. If you choose to disable, your X account will not appear on the platform.
How to remove X account from phone:
- Open your X app and tap the profile icon in the top left corner.
- Next, find Settings and support > Settings and privacy.
- Now find your account and open it > Tap Deactivate your account.
- X tells you what you should know with the Disable button at the bottom.
- Click Disable and confirm password by entering your password.
Deleting an X account from PC / Web:
- Open the X website and find More in the left menu.
- Now go to Settings & Support > Settings & Privacy.
- Open your account and find Deactivate your account.
- Click Disable and confirm password by entering your password.
Now, when you deactivate your X/Twitter profile, it will be deleted from the platform, but it will only be deleted if you do not log in for 30 days. So just don’t log in after deactivation for 30 days and your account should be permanently deleted.
