“Reel It In: Share Your Short Videos with Instagram Reels!”
Instagram, the photo and video sharing platform owned by Meta, now allows users worldwide to save clips from public accounts directly to their camera rolls. This feature was previously only available in the US. However, discs saved with this process still display a watermark with the creator’s Instagram handle.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, said on his Instagram feed: “Reels update, you can now save rolls created with public accounts to your camera roll – every roll you upload is watermarked with the creator’s Instagram handle. We rolled it out in the US earlier this year, and now it’s available worldwide.”
Mosseri also revealed how the new feature works in a screenshot shared on his broadcast channel. Follow this simple process to download and save Instagram rolls:
How to download and save to gallery
– Open the Instagram app on your phone
– Now find the reel you want to save.
– Tap the Share icon on the roll.
– Select “Download” option.
– The reel is saved directly to the camera roll of your device.
Note that public accounts have the option to disable reel uploads. If the reel is not available for download, you can still save it by tapping the three dots and selecting Save to watch it later in the app.
In related news, Meta-owned Instagram is also testing a new feature that will allow users to react and reply to notes in DMs using audio, photos, videos, gifs and stickers.
The new feature is still in the testing phase, so it is not clear when it will be rolled out to all users. However, it can make DM conversations on Instagram more interesting and expressive.
“We’ve been testing new ways to react and respond to notes in DMs using audio, photos, videos, gifs, and stickers. We hope this will give people new and fun ways to connect and interact in notes,” Adam Mosseri wrote for Broadcast Channel.
