Report Suggests Twitter May Introduce New Limits on Direct Messaging for Non-Verified Accounts
According to reports, Twitter is currently developing a plan to restrict the amount of direct messages (DMs) that non-Blue users can send on a daily basis.
Leaker Alessandro Paluzzi tweeted on Tuesday: “#Twitter is working to limit the number of posts per day before you need to sign up for @TwitterBlue.”
According to the screenshot shared by the leaker, after reaching the limit, non-Twitter Blue users will receive a message titled “Get confirmation to send more messages.”
“You have reached the maximum limit of direct messages in one day. Sign up for Twitter Blue to continue sending messages,” it says.
Additionally, the leaker said that currently the limit is 500 DM per day, but “I bet that limit will be reduced when this is implemented.”
Twitter owner Elon Musk said Monday that the platform will “hopefully” roll out another update this week that will limit the ability to send DMs to people who don’t follow you for Blue users.
Last week, Musk had said that Twitter would soon start paying creators on the platform for ads shown in their replies.
