Round 2 of the iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Google Pixel 8 Pro Drop Test: Who Comes Out on Top?
Google has kicked off the flagship battle this month with the launch of the new Pixel 8 series, and now the focus is on how the new Pixel 8 Pro model stacks up against the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the relatively old but competent Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Recently we saw a drop test challenge between flagship phones from Apple and Samsung, and now it’s time for Google to show if it has made a solid device. Spoiler alert, Google manages to beat Apple in a drop and scratch test done by a few testers.
iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Pixel 8 Pro drop test: Who wins?
The Pixel 8 Pro was dropped face down on a concrete surface, and most of us feared the worst for the new Pixel phone. Surprisingly, the device survived the drop without any scratches, but the aluminum frame on the side left a few scratches.
The second level of the test was performed by dropping the phone from head height onto a concrete surface, the results are again quite impressive with the Pixel 8 Pro surviving without major dents or scratches. Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra didn’t do very well in these tests.
The Pixel 8 Pro’s camera module didn’t break at any point, which didn’t happen when the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra were thrown down at speed. The final result of the tests clearly shows that the Pixel 8 Pro is a solid device and fared much better in the drop and scratch tests than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is good for Google. That being said, the performance of the new Pixels remains a concern, as many benchmarks for the new Tensor G3 chip suggest that the new hardware isn’t exactly flagship-class to match the likes of Qualcomm, MediaTek and even Apple.
The Pixel 8 Pro is priced at Rs 1,06,999 in India and is available in a single 128GB storage variant with 12GB RAM. The new Pixel model has a thermometer and three new cameras on the back.
