Samsung Galaxy xCover 5 rugged smartphone launched
Samsung claims that its new Galaxy Xcover 5 is equipped with various features to handle demanding tasks. It has a shock absorption capacity that allows it to withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters. The phone also has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Just like other rugged Samsung phones, it also comes with a Glove-Touch feature allowing users to operate the phone while wearing gloves.
For added security, it comes bundled with the company’s Samsung Knox security solution. The company claims that the defense-grade security platform offers end-to-end encryption at every layer of the device.
In terms of specs, the Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 comes with a 5.3 inch HD + TFT display. The phone measures 147.1 x 71.6 x 9.2 mm. It runs on an Exynos 850 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. It also has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of on-board storage. On the software side, it has Android 11 out of the box. A 3000 mAh (removable) battery powers the phone. The phone also comes with a 15W fast charging stand.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 has a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f / 1.8 aperture. Up front, it houses a 5-megapixel camera with an f / 2.2 aperture. It is available in dual SIM / single SIM variants. Other phone features include facial recognition for biometric authentication and NFC support.
Samsung also offers the possibility of integrating the walkie-talkie function into Microsoft Teams.
The push-to-talk feature allows users to stay in touch with anyone throughout the day with the push of a button, making it easier to communicate with colleagues.
