A startup specializing in deep tech from Kerela was honored with the prestigious ‘Best Research Company in AI’ accolade at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit and Awards 2024. Additionally, Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, called for collaboration between India and the US to establish AI standards and ensure the widespread adoption of AI worldwide. OpenAI also announced that they will be incorporating watermarks into the metadata of images produced using the Dall-E 3 model in ChatGPT.

1. Satya Nadella urges India and US to cooperate on AI norms
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella urged India and the US to cooperate on AI norms. Speaking at an event at Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Hotel on Wednesday, Nadella said it was crucial that India, his country of birth, and the United States help artificial intelligence “disperse” around the world, Bloomberg reported. “I think it’s imperative that India and the US in particular are able to work together on what the norms are, what the regulations are even, rather than breaking them,” the Microsoft CEO said.
2. Kerala startup wins Global Artificial Intelligence Summit
International Virtual Assistance Pvt Ltd (IVA), a deep technology startup from Kerala, won the “Best Research Company in Artificial Intelligence” at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit and Awards 2024. According to a PTI report, it also received recognition from the All organization. Indian Council for Robotics and Automation (AICRA) for “Development of Virtual Strain Gauge Sensor for Aircraft Engine Testing”. IVA Chairman Suresh Kumar said, “We are proud to represent Kerala on the global stage and continue our pursuit of excellence in the dynamic field of AI and Machine Learning.”
3. Thailand is making progress in developing a local AI model
Thailand is making progress in developing its own artificial intelligence model to reduce its dependence on foreign technology, the National News Agency of Thailand reported on Wednesday. The development of the AI model, called Open ThaiGPT, is led by Chai Wutiwiwatchai of the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), as it aims to introduce a GPT model that serves local needs in a Thai-literate manner. The project was launched in 2023 in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Entrepreneur Association of Thailand and the NSTDA Supercomputer Center, and is supported by the ministries.
4. OpenAI adds watermarks to images created by DALL-E
OpenAI said on Wednesday that it will add watermarks to the metadata of images created with the Dall-E 3 model in ChatGPT. OpenAI said in a release that the move supports the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), which allows publishers, companies and others to embed metadata into media to verify its provenance and associated information. Therefore, images created with this model now have C2PA metadata. This change applies to all mobile users by February 72.
5. Amazfit releases an artificial intelligence watch
Smart wearable brand Amazfit announced its latest smartwatch, the Amazfit Active, on Wednesday. The smartwatch has an AI feature called Zepp Coach. This AI-powered personal trainer caters to users of all skill levels and offers more effective, personalized and safer workouts. Zepp Coach presents scientific training methods that evaluate the user’s physical condition, fatigue and training status based on the intensity of the training. Therefore, it can advise users to increase exercise, suggest rest or change exercise intensity.
