Simplify Netflix Profile Transfer Process With No Need To Create New Profile
Netflix has introduced a new feature that simplifies the process of transferring profiles, particularly for those who have been using a friend’s account and the act of sharing passwords has disrupted a previously harmonious arrangement. With this update, users can now easily move their entire viewing history and personalized recommendations to another account.
You might say this isn’t a big deal, but being able to work with the same playlist without creating a new account sounds like an important update worth sharing with everyone.
Netflix gives you an option when you select the profile transfer feature where you can either create a new account or transfer to an existing account that requires a registered email address and password to complete the process. Netflix offers this feature in select countries for now, but expect more users to see the option in the coming months.
Netflix introduced this profile transfer option mainly to limit password sharing, which meant it was lost to potential paid subscribers. The strategy seems to have worked on the platform, with Netflix reporting higher subscriber numbers after the restriction was officially confirmed, albeit in select markets for now.
The video streaming app also now has an ad tier for its users, who have to pay less than the standard subscription plan but see more ads between shows, something that never happened on Netflix. Cracking down on password sharing has somehow bypassed markets like India, where the company is already fighting a tough battle to sign up new users, even as the market is slowly shifting away from traditional TV platforms.
