Sundar Pichai’s Response to His AI Speech Going Viral
Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently talked about the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and Google’s plans for 2024 in a conversation with tech content creator Brian Tong. However, things took a funny turn when Tong noticed that the last two letters of Pichai’s name are “AI” and connected it to his viral AI speech.
Brian Tong, who talks a lot about technical things, couldn’t help but make a funny observation. Noting that the last two letters of Sundar Pichai’s name are “AI,” he joked, “Has anyone ever told you that AI is in your name?”
Pichai admitted with a laugh, “You know, I didn’t realize it, but I had a good laugh at Google I/O when someone made a video of me saying ‘AI, AI, AI, AI.'” then a clip was shown of Pichai repeating “AI” and “generative AI” at the event. Pichai added, “I thought it was amusing — it was fun to watch. The title twist was a nice touch.”
Inspired by the funny coincidence, Tong jokingly said, “We can make T-shirts out of it and sell them.” Pichai was practical and replied, “No, probably not a good idea.”
Meanwhile, at its annual Google for India event, the US tech company announced that it will start assembling Pixel smartphones in India, and the first smartphone to come with the Made in India tag is the newly launched Pixel 8.
Google has been working behind the scenes to expand its manufacturing base outside of China just like Apple, and this announcement shows that Google sees India as an important market and will focus on the country in the coming years.
“At #GoogleforIndia, we shared a plan to manufacture Pixel smartphones locally and expect the first devices to be ready in 2024. We are committed to being a trusted partner in India’s digital growth – we appreciate the support of Make In India @PMOIndia+ MEIT Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw,” Google CEO Pichai wrote on social media X.
