No Surprise: iPhones Dominate the List of Top 5 Best-Selling Smartphones in 2023
iPhones are popular all over the world, but did you know that all five of the best-selling models on the market last year were iPhones? A new market report has been published this month, which tells about Apple’s dominant position in the premium segment. The report also tells us that the iPhone 14 Pro Max was the best-selling model in 2023, which is not surprising given the numbers Apple has reported in recent quarters.
The Pro Max model sold 34 million units during the season, which is an impressive number for a device costing well over a lakh. It is interesting that Apple managed to sell a premium iPhone without major design changes and by offering it with a lightning connector.
The second iPhone on the list is the latest 15 Pro Max, which was only launched in September last year, but has already clocked 33 million units, which is a huge number for a new model and for Apple.
The next top three models were the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, which recorded 29 million units each, which is again quite a big deal for the company considering that these are also new models.
And if you thought Apple was probably struggling to sell older iPhones, the company managed 23 million iPhone 13 sales, likely helped by demand for iPhones in markets like India and other developing countries.
But what about Google and Samsung’s Android flagships? Where is the Galaxy S23 series on the list? Surprisingly, the first non-Apple device on the list is the Samsung Galaxy A14 4G model in sixth place with 21 million devices in the last 12 months.
Samsung is worried about its performance last year, although the Galaxy S23 Ultra received a decent response. However, the AI-powered Galaxy S24 lineup may stand a better chance this year, which will become clearer later this year.
