The Apple Mixed Reality Headset could make its debut at WWDC 2023 in June
Apple’s much-anticipated mixed reality headset could make its debut at the WWDC 2023 conference in June this year after several delays. The XR headphones were originally supposed to come out last year, and then some suggested it could happen as early as 2023 as well.
But according to new
reports
, the release could finally happen around June, when Apple hosts its WWDC developer event. And in many ways it makes sense. After all, the XR headphones run on the rumored realityOS, and the platform needs to be given to developers to test and then create apps that make the hardware powerful.
Organizing your product and platform at a developer conference is the best way to engage with the best and also work on fixing the flaws found in tests. Apple is investing heavily in the XR ecosystem, and it is considered the next big innovation at the Steve Jobs Center.
Apple still relies on iPhones for its revenue (50 percent comes from iPhone sales), and the company would do well to reshape its product lineup with an eye to the future. Apple is entering a segment where things haven’t been smooth sailing for its competitors. But if Apple manages to get another successful product pilot, expect the industry to take notes and probably incorporate them into its own strategy.
That said, Apple’s XR headphones are likely to cost more than $3,000 (roughly Rs. 2,40,000), which means there’s a lot of room for other brands to make and copy a formula that doesn’t cost a fortune.
Over the years, virtual and augmented reality have been corporate pitches, but with the added cost of hardware hard to justify, the XR could be an ideal gateway to the technology’s success, and Apple hopes the wait for a product launch will pay off. Either way, this report makes WWDC 2023 even more enticing, and we can’t wait to see the big ticket Apple unveils.
