Twitter confirmation purge: From movie stars to sports icons to politicians, everyone is losing their blue ticks
From Bollywood’s biggest stars to sports personalities and even the country’s biggest political party, the BJP, have lost their coveted Twitter blue ticks thanks to Elon Musk.
The old blue checkmarks used to be issued to journalists, officials and celebrities for free to prevent impersonation and spam.
However, Twitter officially retired the old blue checkmarks on April 20, 2022 under the ownership of Elon Musk. Twitter now restricts verification badges to only paid users, businesses, authorities and authorities.

Here are the top Indian people and entities who lost Twitter blue:
BOLLYWOOD STARS
The traditional blue was no longer seen on the accounts of Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
Sports personalities
Sportspersons both past and present, including cricketer Virat Kholi and tennis legend Sania Mira, lost the blue tick. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was not even spared.

High-profile users who lost their blue checks on Thursday included Pope Francis, Oprah Winfrey and former US President Donald Trump.
WHAT NOW
For users who still had a blue check on Thursday, a pop-up message indicated that the account “has been verified because they have subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.”
Phone number verification simply means that the person has the phone number and verified that they have access to it – it does not verify the person’s identity.
