Twitter’s New Official Account is @X
Twitter has recently altered its official handle from @Twitter to @X, as pointed out by ReturnByte’s reporter Kris Holt. If you try to access @Twitter, you will be informed that the account is no longer active and directed to follow @X for updates. All previous tweets from @Twitter, or rather, @X, are now accessible through the @X account.
That’s not all. The Twitter Blue subscription service name is now @XBlue (Blue subscription) on the main description page. This means that most Twitter handles of X descent have omitted the Twitter name or replaced it with X. For example, @TwitterSupport, @TwitterDev, and @TwitterAPI are now @Support, @Xdevelopers, and @API.

Twitter didn’t have an @X handle yesterday because it was in the hands of a user named Gene X Hwang from a photography/video studio called Orange Photography, as reported by Techcrunch. However, that changed as of today, with Hwang tweeting about the new handle as “all’s well that ends well,” so hopefully he was compensated in some way for dropping the name.
X has worked hard to remove all vestiges of Twitter branding, including partially removing the Twitter sign from its San Francisco headquarters before police intervened due to a lack of permission. Twitter may still have to deal with IP issues, as Microsoft has owned the Xbox-related X trademark for 20 years and Meta, another trademark that covers the letter X.
