Unlock the Future: Get Ready for Apple’s iPhone 16 and Its AI-Powered Features!
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 is rumored to launch with unique AI features based on the iOS 18 operating system. These new features can include things like improved Siri performance, improved camera capabilities, and more.
According to MacRumors, Apple will unveil a turbocharged version of Siri with large language models (LLM) at WWDC 2024 that will debut in iOS 18, but some new cutting-edge generative AI features may be exclusive to the iPhone 16 models.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed last month that the Cupertino-based tech giant is developing a new set of AI features for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, including a “smarter version of Siri” and other features that run on large language models (LLM).
Apple is still deciding whether to use these AI capabilities on-device, in the cloud, or in a hybrid approach. It’s also unclear if some AI features require specific hardware or if they’ll be available on all devices that can run iOS 18.
“According to new information independently shared by leaker @Tech_Reve, iOS 18 will bring the company’s new LLM to millions of existing devices using cloud-based AI, while new device AI features will likely be exclusive to the iPhone 16,” MacRumors said.
As for iOS 18 features, Gurman’s sources mention a revamped interaction between Siri and the Messages app, allowing users to ask complex questions and complete sentences more efficiently.
You can also expect auto-generated Apple Music playlists and integration with productivity apps like Pages and Keynote, such as AI-assisted typing and slide deck creation. It is not yet known where this patina of AI integration will transfer to the new hardware requirements.
All iPhone 16 models may have a new button with an unknown purpose. Apple is said to be working on iPhone 16 prototypes with an extra capacitive button known internally as the ‘Capture Button’.
Located on the same side as the power button, the button is a capacitive button that can sense pressure and touch and provides haptic feedback when pressed.
