Unlock the Grok AI Chatbot Early – Elon Musk’s Pay To Play Secret Revealed!

Elon Musk’s XAI launched its own generative AI chatbot called Grok just last week. This chatbot is based on Grok-1-xAI’s own extensive language model. According to reports, it differs from many other chatbots, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Bard, as it has a “humorous” side and is said to answer “spicy” questions that other chatbots tend to avoid. However, unlike those chatbots, Grok is not available to everyone; it is currently essentially behind the paywall of an X Premium subscription.

Even X Premium users have a waiting list for access. But Elon Musk has confirmed that xAI’s Grok will be prioritized for users who have been X Premium+ members for longer. Simply put, if you’ve subscribed to X Premium+, formerly known as Twitter Blue, for a long time – you’re more likely to be using Grok than someone who recently subscribed to the service.

“We prioritize access to Grok based on how long someone has had an X Premium+ account,” Elon Musk wrote to X.

Notably, this isn’t the first time a Musk-owned feature or service has been put behind a paywall. Features such as publishing long content – including messages and videos – and editing messages are all housed behind the X Basic paywall.

It remains to be seen whether Grok will eventually be available to everyone or whether Elon Musk’s XAI will continue to offer it as part of the X Premium+ service.

In India, the X Premium+ service costs Rs 1,300 per month or Rs 13,600 per year. This is the cost you have to pay to access the Grok chatbot. In comparison, this is a completely paid experience compared to other chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Bard, as these services are free. Although ChatGPT offers a Plus tier, the core features are free for now.
