Want to keep the Twitter Gold Badge? Brands may have to pay more than 80,000 rubles
Twitter has been in the process of reforming since Elon Musk took over in October 2022. We’ve seen legions of engineers, some fired, some quit. You also saw senior executives move out before Musk took over. Musk has also changed the platform’s strategy, hoping to get his money back by making more money through Twitter.
He started the process by raising the price of Twitter Blue, expanding it to more countries and making it attractive to anyone who wants a blue badge on their Twitter account.
For businesses, Twitter saw another window to make millions, and this strategy began by giving brands a gold badge, which could soon be an expensive addition to businesses using Twitter to do social work and reach millions.
According to a report by The Information, Twitter charges businesses $1,000 (roughly Rs. 81,000) to keep or get a golden token on their account. The report also mentions that Twitter charges them $50 (roughly Rs. 400) per month for affiliate accounts. Multiple sources suggest that Twitter has reached out to the companies to get the details of this package and give them opportunities to make it happen.
The gold badge on Twitter allows brands to boost their tweets, increasing reach and distribution with every tweet. Twitter is basically relaunching the Blue for Business program as a Verification for Organizations subscription.
Twitter also plans to remove old blue badges from millions of accounts and make them pay for Twitter Blue to get it back. These decisions seem to stem from Twitter’s need to start making a profit for Musk and Co. The social blogging platform has never grown its finances, and Musk believes that such actions will contribute to its growth and also bring more users to the platform.
