Will This Wearable Concept Phone Be Available Soon?

Wearable phones are no longer a dream, as companies have already started showing concept models of devices that don’t need to be carried in your pocket. Earlier this week, Motorola unveiled its unique device at a tech event, suggesting that the future of wearable smartphones is not far off.

These days we mostly see phones that can fold and flip, but Motorola bends them like no other brand has done before. The company has shared a product teaser where the phone wraps around the wrist like a watch, except this device has a giant touchscreen.

The possibilities of a flexible screen are more practical in bendable phones compared to how the concept was presented many years ago. Strapping a phone around your wrist isn’t just a pipe dream and we’ve seen it before in sci-fi shows that have clearly shown us that the future of these devices isn’t far-fetched.

But the thing about these form factors is that you can use them as a regular smartphone with a 6.9-inch screen in landscape mode, or adjust its position so that the screen stays upright without external assistance. Motorola calls the device an adaptive display, and this definition looks exactly like this product and its use cases.

One of the product teasers also shows the user strapping the phone to their wrist to take video calls, which is definitely better than answering calls on a smartwatch with speakers, which we’ve never liked. Motorola already has a nous in the foldable space with the Moto Razr series, and even showed its versatility last year with a rollable phone concept.

Now it’s gone a step further with a bendable phone, but will we ever see these hit the market? There is no timetable for official release or mass production. Despite this, it is good to see the industry innovating and forcing others to stand up and follow this development closely.
