Over 30,000 URLs have been blocked in India as of 2018
From 2018 to March 15, 2023, 30,310 URL blocking instructions have been issued, which include social media URLs, accounts, channels, apps, webpages, websites, etc.

According to the written response submitted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITy) to the parliament, the government follows the procedure prescribed in the Information Technology Rules (Procedure and safeguards for preventing public access to information), 2009.
According to the rules, MEITy and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting can issue blocking instructions if the information violates the provisions of Section 69A of the IT Act 2000, the answer said.
From 2018 to March 15, 2023, the committee constituted under rules 7 and 14 mentioned above has examined a total of 41,172 URLs received from the nodal authorities of various ministries, departments and states for blocking under Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000. .
All such URLs were notified to the relevant brokers 48 hours prior to the meeting. Regarding the websites, the notices were issued based on the contact information published on the website, the ministry announced in its response.
