Google's in-person event is set for October 4, where it is expected to unveil the Pixel 8 phones. Ahead of the launch, let's take a look at some of the rumoured features that could be included in the new flagships.News

Google Pixel 8 Series: A Summary of All the Pre-Launch Speculation

Whether it’s the Pixel 4 line from a few years ago or the upcoming Pixel 8 series, Google’s Pixel phones are notorious for leaks before launches. Now, with the Pixel 8 event taking place on October 4 next month, a lot has already been leaked about Google’s upcoming flagships.

As in previous years, Google is expected to offer the Pixel 8 series in two variants: Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. Google is aiming to create a vanilla offering for the masses, reserving top-of-the-line features such as a periscope telephoto lens and sharper QHD displays for its Pro variants, as it did with the XL variants before the Pixel 6 series.

Google Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8: What to expect

The Google Pixel 8 series is expected to be powered by Google’s third-generation in-house Tensor G3 processor and will largely retain the aesthetics and design of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. In terms of the display, however, reports suggest that the Pixel 8 models could feature a 6.7-inch flat display – ditching the curved panel seen on the Pixel 7 Pro. In addition, the Pixel 8 series is also expected to have a slightly redesigned camera module, where the lens aperture will become whole; instead of having different segments for different lenses.

As with most Pixel phones, software is also expected to be the highlight this year. The devices will come with the Android 14 operating system and are said to include a host of new software features, including an alleged “Audio Magic Eraser” feature that will allow users to remove unwanted sounds from video clips. Account EZ published a leaked campaign with X.

Recent reports also claim that the Pixel 8 series could feature a video equivalent to night mode. This would help users take better videos in low light. If it does make it to the Pixel 8 phones, it will be interesting to see the science behind this technology, as shooting brighter video usually involves choosing a slower shutter speed rather than increasing the ISO to minimize noise and artifacts.

Additionally, the Pixel 8 series phones could also receive 5 years of OS updates that could bring them in line with the iPhone.

Pixel 8 series release date and event time

The Google Pixel 8 series will be unveiled at Google’s in-person launch event in New York on October 4. Indian viewers can watch the live broadcast on YouTube and Google website at 19:30 IST.
