Apple is increasing the replacement costs of out-of-warranty iPhone batteries for older models

If you’re looking to replace your iPhone’s out-of-warranty battery, be prepared to pay more because Apple has increased the replacement cost going forward.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple had raised the battery replacement cost to $99 when the iPhone 14 was released for $69, but now the company is raising the price of all older generation models and keeping the iPhone 14 series at $99.

“The current out-of-warranty battery service fee is valid until the end of February 2023,” Apple said earlier this year. But now, “Starting March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will increase by $20 for all iPhone models prior to iPhone 14.”

Phones with a home button, such as the oldest supported iPhone, the iPhone 5, are now $69, down from $49. iPhones without a home button (iPhone X and later) are now $89, which is $10 less than the iPhone 14 series battery replacement.

Additionally, according to AppleInsider, MacBook Air battery replacement costs have increased by $30, while MacBook Pro battery replacement costs have increased by $50. In addition, the cost of replacing an iPad battery varies between $99 and $199, depending on the model.

The price increase will not affect users with AppleCare+ or an iPhone that is still under warranty. Also, it is currently unclear whether the price increase will apply to the US and whether we can expect the increase to affect other countries, including India.
