Google’s Pixel Ad Hints at Apple iPhone 15 Featuring USB-C
In a new “Best Phones Forever” ad, Google has admitted that Apple’s iPhone 15 series is set to receive USB-C when it launches on the 12th. September The ad features the Google Pixel 7 and what could be interpreted as an iPhone. joint spa day. This ad, primarily for fun, focuses on the theme of the upcoming launch events: Apple’s Wonderlust event on September 12th, followed by Google’s in-person event on October 4th – where they’ll unveil the new Pixel 8 phones.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen telcos play off each other, all in good spirits of course. However, this ad seems to confirm that Apple’s iPhone 15 models will finally switch to USB-C.
In the ad, the iPhone says, “Now it seems like every time I turn around, phones like yours are doing things I can’t, like blurring old photos, answering unknown calls with AI, and translating messages in real time. It’s exhausting, but I still have a few tricks up my sleeve.”
Pixel replies, “How what?”
“It’s hidden, but let’s just say USB-C is coming soon!” The iPhone hints with this subtle word.
Then the Pixel leaves the information when it says, “Charging with USB-C?”
The iPhone then says, “How did you know?”
Considering Google made a playful ad focusing on USB-C and teasing the iPhone, it more or less confirms that USB-C might be coming. As competitors fighting for market share, it’s unlikely that Google would create an ad discussing an upcoming feature without first having inside information.
Additionally, several industry insiders and analysts — including Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman — have made similar claims over the past year.
At the Apple event on September 12, alongside the iPhone 15 series, the iPhone manufacturer is also expected to launch the new Apple Watch Series 9 and the next-generation Apple Watch Ultra. They might even reveal a new USB-C version of the AirPods Pro charging case.
