Wear OS 4 Update Now Available for Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Series

Samsung has released the Wear OS 4-based One UI 5 version for its Galaxy smartwatches this week. The company has partnered with Google on the Wear OS platform since last year, allowing Samsung to offer newer updates faster than other brands. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Watch 4 series will receive the new One UI version in the US for now, with other countries expected to receive their update in the coming weeks.

With the new Wear OS version, Samsung’s smartwatches get the July 2023 security patch and a bunch of features that make the Galaxy Watch 4 series even more powerful.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 users can enjoy new health features thanks to improved sensor capabilities, and the company claims you’ll now get improved sleep tracking and heart monitoring data. You can monitor your heart rate based on your cycling pattern and also better sleep coaching.

In addition to these, you have some functional features, such as the ability to save the watch’s data to the Samsung Cloud, and finally, you can switch to a new phone and pair it with the smartwatch without resetting the device to its factory settings.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 5 and 6 have already received the update from the company, and the Galaxy Watch 4 will be the last of the wearable range to launch with this version of One UI. And if you own the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 or Fold 5, the One UI version of the watch lets you take photos on your wrist in flex or tent mode.

Both Google and Samsung hope that the OS overhaul will allow them to compete with the Apple Watch, the undisputed smartwatch leader in the market. Google is also investing in the Pixel Watch series, with a second-generation model expected to be announced alongside the Pixel 8 series next month.
