Spatial Video Recording Capability of the iPhone 15 Pro

During its recent “Wonderlust” iPhone 15 event, Apple revealed that the iPhone 15 Pro would feature support for “Spatial Video” shooting, allowing users to create 3D-like videos for playback on Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset. However, Apple mentioned this feature only briefly without going into details.

For starters, the iPhone 15 Pro uses both the main camera lens and the ultra-wide-angle lens for combined video capture, creating a stereoscopic effect. However, little is known about the practical applications of this feature beyond providing a 3D perspective to relive memories with the Vision Pro headset.

It’s important to note that this feature will not be available on the iPhone 15 Pro at launch and is expected to be released “later this year.” Apple says, “Users will be able to capture precious moments in 3D and relive those memories in incredible depth with Apple Vision Pro when it becomes available early next year in the US.”

Therefore, due to the limited availability of Vision Pro headsets, Spatial Video comes with a caveat: it may not be useful for users outside the US and a few launch regions unless it has other use cases beyond Vision Pro playback. headphones.
