A Step-by-Step Guide to Using Delhi Metro’s WhatsApp-Based Ticketing Service
Good news for Delhi/NCR Metro commuters! Now you have the option to easily buy tickets through WhatsApp as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced to expand its WhatsApp-based ticketing service to cover all lines in the Delhi-NCR region, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro.
According to the Meta-owned instant messaging app, passengers can now simply send a message with the text “Hello” to +91 9650855800 on WhatsApp or scan a QR code to buy metro tickets on their smartphones across the web.
Available in both English and Hindi, this user-friendly WhatsApp chatbot caters to a wide range of metro drivers. The service now spans 12 metro lines and covers 288 metro stations, including the Gurugram Rapid metro line.
“With the introduction of this WhatsApp-based ticketing system, metro travelers now have the convenience of buying tickets with one click, from the comfort of their home or workplace,” the Meta-owned app said in a statement.
Here is a list of the main features of WhatsApp ticket service:
– The user can create a maximum of 6 QR tickets at one time.
– Tickets can be booked from 6 am to 9 pm for all lines and from 4 am to 11 pm for Airport Line (Orange Line) lines.
– Ticket cancellations are not allowed in WhatsApp Ticketing.
– Credit/debit card transactions are subject to a convenience fee, while UPI based transactions are not subject to a convenience fee.
The instant messaging platform said that their goal is to simplify the flow experience for WhatsApp users and this is another step in that direction. Every day, millions of commuters rely on Delhi Metro to reach their desired destinations and WhatsApp is excited to offer this ticketing experience in their WhatsApp chats.
In a related new move, the Meta-owned app also introduces a new search feature for the Updates tab, which allows you to search for status updates and channels within the app.
