Renders of the Upcoming Google Pixel 8a Revealed
It’s been less than a week since Google released the Pixel 8 series, which includes the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. However, new leaks of the alleged Pixel 8a, which is expected to be Google’s mid-range Pixel device for 2024, have started to emerge.
Unofficial renders of the Pixel 8a revealed by Smartprix and OnLeaks show a device similar in appearance to the flagship Pixel 8 series and the Pixel 7 series before it. One notable change this time around is that the body is more curved than before, especially at the corners of the device, and this is a change that is also present in the Pixel 8 models compared to the Pixel 7 series.
The publication reveals that the new device could be slightly smaller and wider than the Pixel 7a, measuring 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm. In contrast, the Pixel 7a has the following dimensions: 152.4 x 72.9 x 9.0 mm. The phone is said to have a 6.1-inch panel with a hole for the front-facing camera, and at the back, the phone is expected to have a dual camera array.
The Pixel 8a could share internals with the flagship Pixel 8 Pro
The Pixel 8a is also expected to get the new third-generation Google SoC – the Tensor G3. MySmartPrice notes that it could be an underclocked version of the same chip, paired with 8GB of RAM and running Android 14.
It’s not clear when Google might release the Pixel 8a, but given that Google phones tend to leak quite early before the actual release, it could still be a while before the launch. Last year Google released the Pixel 7a in May, so it is possible that we will see the new Pixel 8a in May next year.
