Google Offers Air Quality Index Updates on Discover for Delhi Mobile Users Amidst Smog
With the onset of winter, the people of North India fear the harmful pollution. Google is preparing for the problem in its own way, letting people know their area’s AQI with real-time mobile updates.
The company is testing Google Discover’s AQI reading feature, which is available for both Android and iPhone users. AQI readings are presented in a card below the Discover tab that opens when you swipe right on your Android phone’s home screen.
You can find the Discover tab through the Google app on Android or iOS, where the app is available by default on the former, while you have to download it on the latter. You can also customize the Discover card settings to get updates on sports matches, your city’s weather, which also includes AQI data.
You can also tap on the AQI card to find out more about your city’s pollution level. It doesn’t seem to be limited to specific countries, and we independently checked the feature, which was available after updating the Google app on Android.
If you’ve subscribed to multiple Discover updates, you’ll need to swipe left to see the AQI readings for your area, which are pulled from the location data available in your phone’s Google app. Google tends to localize features based on trends and even seasons to some extent. With a Google search, people can now get answers about generative AI.
In fact, when you search for a topic or any update, Google gives you an AI-powered overview of the search content. This feature is not publicly available and you need to sign in to Google to get the option in Search, which is offered to most people who use Google services.
