India Mobile Congress 2023: India Achieves Fastest 5G Rollout Globally
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the India Mobile Congress 2023, an event showcasing startups and the Indian government working on future solutions for the technology and telecom sector. The three-day congress will highlight technologies such as 5G, 6G, artificial intelligence (AI) and discuss semiconductor industry, green technology, cyber security, etc.
Telcos such as Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are showcasing their new 5G use cases, showcasing their applications and services that may be available to consumers in the next few years. PM Modi visits the Reliance Jio corner where Akash Ambani walks PM Modi through the new products and solutions the company has unveiled at IMC 2023. He will also get to know Airtel and Ericsson’s new technology at this year’s event. .
“Prime Minister Modi has clearly focused on the telecom sector in the last eight years. India is known for the fastest 5G deployment in the world and is taking the telecommunications technology all over the world. Today is the time of 5G and soon India will have 6G and the technology standards are set,” IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said during the IMC 2023 event.
He also pointed out that PM Modi will inaugurate 100 5G labs today. “India had exported mobile phones worth Rs. 90,000 crore last year. 10 years ago it took an average of 230 days to install mobile towers, now it is done in days. We are developing technology to lead 6g services,” Vaishnaw adds.
Akash Ambani, Head, Reliance Jio shares, “Jio has contributed to 85% of 5G activations in the country. We offer the fastest 5G speeds in the world. We have strengthened our services with products like JioFiber and Jio AirFiber. India now has over 125 million 5G users.
This year, IMC presents the startup program “Aspire”. It promotes connections between start-up companies, investors and established companies with the aim of accelerating new entrepreneurial initiatives and cooperation projects.
IMC 2023 will be attended by more than one million participants from around 22 countries, including around 5,000 CEO-level representatives, 230 exhibitors, 400 startups and other stakeholders.
