Apple HomePod with a 7-inch screen could be on the market next year: All the details
Apple plans to have an all-new HomePod speaker with a 7-inch screen next year, like the Google Nest Hub and Amazon Echo Show.
This information comes via analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a good track record on Apple releases. Kuo has spoken about the rumored product in a Medium post this week, confirming earlier reports by Bloomberg.
The post mentions that Apple could be looking at this new HomePod as part of its deeper integration into the smart home ecosystem, and we’re not surprised by these plans. Google and Amazon have used their respective display-centric speakers as a hub for controlling smart home devices, viewing content and getting other essential updates.
We’ve heard about this version of the HomePod for a while, but Kuo, speaking about the product, suggests that we’re closer to its official launch. In order for the product to be launched in 2024, Apple has already started the design phase or maybe entered the production side as well.
Apple could likely offer Apple Music and some other third-party music apps on the device, as well as support for systems compatible with HomeKit and Matter. Bloomberg’s Gurman has said that Apple plans to add a screen to the HomePod and also have a built-in camera that supports FaceTime calls, which is also not surprising.
The HomePod part of the device offers a top-quality sound experience in the living room. Apple could modify the platform for this device, which will be the most important part of the development and success of the ecosystem in the near future. Apple users are limited to using a smart speaker, so adding a new product to the portfolio not only attracts existing customers, but also makes others interested to join the platform.
