Steve Wozniak Hospitalised After Stroke: Apple Co-founder’s Health Scare

Apple founder Steve Wozniak was taken to a hospital in Mexico on Wednesday after suffering symptoms of a stroke, according to media reports.

The 73-year-old technology entrepreneur was scheduled to attend the World Business Forum in the Mexican capital’s Santa Fe district on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Reuters, Wozniak was scheduled to speak at the conference at 4:20 p.m. local time. The organizers of the World Business Forum did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to US media outlet TMZ, the Apple co-founder, who is worth $100 million, protested and said he would be fine, but his wife persisted and eventually got him rushed to the hospital.

While doctors run tests on Wozniak, his staff will fly from the United States to Mexico City on a private jet to check on him and, if necessary, fly him back to the United States for further treatment. According to TMZ, Wozniak may have experienced dizziness.

In 1976, Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computer together with his better-known business partner Steve Jobs. Their company revolutionized personal computing, paving the way for Apple to become the world’s most valuable company.

Apple is known for its innovative design and functional consumer electronics, including laptops, desktops, and the ubiquitous iPhone. Representatives for Wozniak’s website, woz.org, could not be reached for immediate comment.

After leaving Apple, Wozniak founded a company called Wheels of Zeus, which produced educational software. He also taught in colleges and helped others with his money.

Wozniak has won many awards for his work with computers, including the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and the Turing Award. He is also in the National Inventors Hall of Fame and the California Hall of Fame.
