Chatting Just Got Easier: WhatsApp Voice Feature Now Available on iOS and Android!
Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has officially launched a new voice chat feature in groups that allows users to start voice calls without disturbing everyone in the group. This feature is available to everyone after updating WhatsApp to the latest iOS and Android versions.
With this feature, the instant messaging app makes it easier for users to communicate in group chats and introduces a new way to start voice calls by sending silent push notifications. The feature is available for WhatsApp groups with 33 to 128 members.
Before, in WhatsApp group chats, you could only start a voice call that called every member, and if no one joined, the call didn’t happen. With voice chats, you can now start a conversation in a group, even if no one joins it at first. Users are silently prompted to join with a silent push notification.
Also, anyone can join their groups voice chat at any time and start talking without calling everyone else in the group chat. If a voice chat remains empty for 60 minutes, it will automatically end, but anyone can still start a new voice chat at any time.
Group members who are not participating in a voice chat can see the active participants in the call via the chat header and the Calls tab. The voice chat feature for large groups is available after you have installed the latest versions of WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store and WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store.
Here’s how to use WhatsApp voice chats
– Open WhatsApp on Android or iOS devices.
– Now open the group chat where you want to start the voice chat.
– Tap the phone icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
– Select “Start Voice Chat”.
– Group members receive a push notification inviting them to join the voice chat.
Voice chats offer a significant advantage because they allow calls to be initiated without each group member’s phone ringing.
