Secure Your Chats – Take the WhatsApp Privacy Checkup Now!

With the rapid increase in online scams, Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has introduced a new Privacy Checkup feature on Android and iOS devices that allows users to conveniently customize their security settings.

The new WhatsApp Privacy Checkup feature provides step-by-step instructions for confirming your account’s overall security and adjusting your privacy settings in one centralized location.

“Selecting ‘Start Scan’ in the Privacy settings will take you through multiple layers of privacy that will strengthen the security of your messages, calls and personal information,” the instant messaging app said.

In the privacy checker, you can choose who can contact you, manage your personal information, add privacy to your conversations, and add security to your account.

How to start the WhatsApp privacy check on your phone

– Open WhatsApp and go to privacy settings.

– Android: Tap Advanced > Settings > Privacy.

– On iPhone: Tap Settings > Privacy.

– Tap Start scan from the banner at the top of the screen.

– Tap each option to adjust the privacy settings for that section.

Choose who can contact you: In this section you can choose who can contact you and block unwanted calls and messages. You can control who can add you to groups, silence unknown callers and manage blocked contacts.

Manage your personal information: Here you can choose the best audience for your personal information, such as your online presence and activity. You can choose who sees your profile picture, control who sees your last seen and online status, and manage read receipts.

Add privacy to your conversations: Use this section to limit access to your messages and media. Here you can manage the default message timer and end-to-end encrypted backups.

Add more security to your account: In this section, you can help protect your account by adding an extra level of security. You can find controls for fingerprint unlock and two-step verification here
