Say Goodbye to Spam Calls: India’s DND App to Block Unwanted Calls by March 2024!
Spam calls and messages have been bothering Indian users for several years, but it looks like things may finally change sometime next year. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is the main architect of the DND app, which has been around for a long time but never managed to serve its purpose fully.
But new reports claim that 2024 will see a big shift in that direction, which may put an end to your annoyance with these spam calls. The telecom body is said to be fixing bugs in its Do Not Disturb (DND) app, which is supposed to help people report these annoying calls. Without explaining what these bugs are, a TRAI official recently spoke at an event where a person shared information about this app and where things are going.
Train secretary V Raghunanda was quoted as saying in a PTI report that the regulator will fix the bugs in the (DND) app, highlighting the technical issues that have plagued its use for consumers. “We have contacted the agency that fixes the app’s bugs. There were issues on some Android devices which have been largely addressed,” he adds. He also confirmed that the new-look DND app will be compatible with all Android phones by March 2024.
The official also explained that the DND application has shown errors when a mobile user has tried to report a call or SMS as spam.
Another problem with the DND app is that iPhone users have not been able to take advantage of its functionality due to Apple’s strict app store policies. Apps like DND cannot access Apple’s iPhone call logs, limiting its effectiveness, but the official mentioned that the agencies are working to ensure that the DND app also works on iOS devices.
