Sony Mysteriously Blocks PlayStation Accounts, Leaving Users Confused
If you are a gamer who owns a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 console, it is important to note that some users have been occasionally and permanently blocked from accessing the PlayStation Network due to alleged violations of the PlayStation Network User Agreement.
As spotted by The Verge, a user identified as @MichaelDhaliwal said on X (formerly Twitter) that their PlayStation Network account had been permanently blocked. “No one knows why! I have no refund, can’t appeal and won’t respond to the freeze. CS told me to create a new account and cut me off,” she said.
My account just worked!!!— Michael Dhaliwal (@michaeldhaliwal) December 5, 2023
In the screenshot shared by the user, we can see that Sony has listed that the ban is due to “violation of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement.” However, the user has reported that his account is now working normally after a few hours.
“Same here when I was playing Lemnant 2 and got kicked out. Even though I chatted on the Sony site, as soon as they confirmed that my account was permanently banned for violating the terms, they immediately left the chat without letting me type a word. I have never played a chat and with multiplayer features. WHAT THE FUCK!!” Reddit user (u/Real_Emergency_8845) said.
Since then, several other users have reported experiencing the same problem. However, it’s worth noting that Sony has yet to acknowledge the issue, and there’s currently no word on how widespread the issue is or if it’s only affecting accounts in a specific region.
To check if you’re having the same issue, you can try using the PSN Store on your console or mobile app. If you get the same error message, it means that your account has been blocked.
